Desert Flower

IMG_3271

You do not have to know everything.

You do not need to stay up late studying existence

Until your eyes water and your heart bleeds.

You only have to know your soul; to heal the wounded marrow

Of your bones, to sing the song in your heart, and to walk

The journey of a thousand dreams meant for you.

Tell me about life, yours, and I will tell you mine.

Meanwhile our hearts continue to beat.

Meanwhile the clouds shed tears across the desert,

Crying for the barren, the lonely, and the thirsty.

Meanwhile the tangerine petals of the Mariposa Lily drink

The sacred juice it knows exists to quench its soul.

So you, when you feel unimportant, looked over,

Remember Holy water runs through your veins

And the world is waiting for you to unfurl your petals

Beneath a shining sky.

****This was written as an exercise based on Mary Oliver’s poem “Wild Geese”

Lila

The seat of desire is the womb of creation, bringing heart to life. It’s through nature’s play, we express our inner most, giving form to voice. Carefree and playful by right, the true self rises to birth the soul’s art

The seat of desire
is the womb of creation,
bringing heart to life.
It’s through nature’s play,
we express our inner most,
giving form to voice.
Carefree and playful
by right, the true self rises
to birth the soul’s art

Spirit Song

When your spirit sings a song the heart has written before time began, like a butterfly you grow wings of color and you begin to soar.

When your spirit sings
a song the heart has written
before time began,
like a butterfly
you grow wings of color and
you begin to soar.

Soul

Resting in quiet spaces of eternal time, it soars with bird wings when love calls its name and true passions leads the way to its only home.

Resting in quiet
spaces of eternal time,
it soars with bird wings
when love calls its name
and true passions leads the way
to its only home.

Fallen

Scattered, but intact

Except for a bruise or two

That show one has lived.

One must plunge to earth

To gather his wings for flight

To the depths of soul.

Tis In The Darkness

moon 001

Tis in the darkness I see best, those fine lines

Which lay upon my heart and wrinkle my skin.

Tis in the darkness, fog rises

Thicker than tree trunks,

And stronger than wind.

Tis in the darkness, I hear

The song of my soul. Like the cardinal

To his mate, I sing

Hoping to find myself.

Fueling The Fire

Heaviness of crimson tears

Wrench the thinker to pieces

A scorch to the heart

A torch to the soul

The turning and clashing

When burning with passion

Unleashing the fury

Of a glass half full
